Mark Zuckerberg did what?!?

Obviously, I’m a fan of social media since I use it to share Sophie’s updates, and my art adventures. But the truth is, it’s really just a place to catch up on the latest gossip. I’m too busy to keep up with the Kardashians, not that I would anyway (sorry Kimmie, Khloe, and whatever K names I’m leaving out).

Don’t get me wrong – I do like a little “Reality Tea” once in a while. But for the most part, social media has been kind of a shallow pastime for me. Until today!

I have to admit, I cringe every time I hear Facebook is making an update. After all, about 85% of the updates usually crash my iPhone, screw up my contacts, or put the wrong faces with status messages. Even my own JeWeL 4U Facebook page is currently on the fritz. But now, give it up to Mark Zuckerberg, who finally made strides in social media of life-saving proportions!  This time, I’m willing to wait out any ‘bugs’ because Facebook has officially joined forces in a cause I believe in: Organ Donation!!  I can’t tell you how excited this makes me. I want to stand up and applaud Mark for using social media for such an amazing and worthy cause.

Not only can a user add the “Life Event” in which they became an organ donor, but Facebook is also integrating links to Donate Life America so anyone who might be on the fence can click immediately to sign up. I encourage you to read this CNN article about these features. If you’re a donor please update your Facebook accordingly.   If you haven’t become a donor please think about it  – Register by clicking here – and make sure you tell your family and friends. In many cases families can over rule this decision to give the gift of life. So please make sure they are aware of your wishes to carry out the most selfless act humanly possible.

This little girl wouldn’t be alive today if it wasn’t for the family who made the most difficult decision during an unbelievably devastating moment.  We are truly grateful!

God Bless My Liver Donor!

About Jenny Bagwill

You know those milestone moments in your life where the course you were going completely jolts you into reevaluating all you think or believe? Mine came in 2010 along with a precious baby girl. My healthy pregnancy, produced a baby with many internal defects unveiling themselves after birth like a stack of falling dominos. We lost track of her surgery count once we hit double digits. By the grace of God, our little fighter has survived an open heart surgery as well as a liver transplant along with a myriad of tests, blood work, and medical visits. She’s doing quite well, and we share her journey here: I hope you take the time to read about our girlie and possibly leave a word of encouragement. My milestone moment (that has continued over the last 2 years), presented many idle hospital hours where I used my time to make hair clips for our little girl who battled to live. It also crossed my path with numerous families in many heartbreaking situations. This is when I decided to use my creativity to do what I can to help others. I try to use my God-given talents to encourage and inspire others which you’ll see me blog about here. I also make a lot of custom pieces to raise awareness of illnesses, syndromes, and diseases that may hit close to home with you. As you’ll see my pieces often contain encouraging words – things hard to say to others in the midst of their dark place. You can view, shop, or place a custom order at here at my JeWeL 4U Etsy Shop - And because our Lil’Sophie has had a liver transplant I always encourage others to consider registering to give the gift of life: View all posts by Jenny Bagwill
